Melaka Getaway - Courtyard @Heeren Boutique Hotel

Went on a short weekend getaway to Malacca for 3D2N. We selected this boutique hotel based on its excellent location in the heart of the Jonker/Chinatown area, and also the fab reviews found on Tripadvisor. I like the fact that it is a converted Peranakan townhouse, with tastefully decorated heritage-theme rooms, carefully preserving its original old world charm. Something different from the usual 4-5 stars accommodations like Hatten or Equatorial, which are hugely popular with Singaporean travelers.

The hotel is located about 5mins walk from our coach drop off point at Casa Del Rio hotel. We found the hotel easily using Google maps.

We were blown away the moment we stepped in, by the elaborate interiors of the former peranakan residence. The reception area has been updated with modern touches in the form of cooling aircon, cushioned sofa seats and wifi.

Check in process was smooth, we were done in about 10mins and were given maps with local attractions marked out for our reference. Then, a friendly staff showed us to our rooms.

Our two Deluxe rooms (G5 & G6), are located at the ground floor. Hubby and I got G6, a beautiful room that is spacious, pleasantly decorated with antique furniture and exquisite peranakan floor tiles. All 15 rooms at the Courtyard has different designs!

Complimentary coffee/tea making facilities and bottled drinking water.

The bathroom has a peek-a-boo style design, romantic for couples but not so much for group of friends. Basic toiletries were provided, and the giant rain shower works well and had good water pressure.

Our friends' Deluxe room (G5) with an extra bed.

After settling down, we took some time to walk around the hotel premise to admire the historical architecture, and also took tons of pictures of this photo worthy accommodation.

A real well

Breakfast was served at a different building across the street, another restored but smaller unit. There is a small peranakan souvenir shop at the entrance, the dining area is right behind it.

Breakfast is buffet style, with quite an extensive spread of local and western delights. At the Egg Corner, guests can order two eggs of their choice (sunny side up/ omelette/ poached/ soft egg). The standard of the food here was superb! The chicken rice got thumbs up from everyone.

We had a great stay at the Courtyard, the rooms are magnificent, service staffs were friendly and its location is unbeatable. I would say the major let down would be their crappy wifi, always has poor connection, even at the lobby area we noticed they limit the number of devices connecting to the wifi service at one time (max. about 5 connections at once). Other than that, mosquito control could have been better managed, I got bitten on several spots but it wasn't too serious though. It would have been a good idea for the hotel management to invest on some insect repellents. That being said, we hope the hotel would keep up the good work with their daily breakfast, it was the main highlight of our stay!
