TCC @Bugis Junction

My friend is back from her Tokyo business trip and have the loots that I ordered. We arranged to meet up at TCC @Bugis to pick up my goods. The decor at this place is modern chic with elegant chandeliers adorning the ceiling.

The usual thick menus..

My drink choice...Peach and lime ice tea with nata de coco...nice.

I ordered a salad, a mains and a dessert...all tasted yummy!

Seared Tofu & Smoked Mushroom Mix...refreshingly delish.

Ocean Sur'fin - Fish fillet with sweet onion dressing & zesty salsa...the fish is fresh & tender..nice!

Dark Devotion - Dark chocolate lava cake, topped with vanilla ice-cream, berries compote & orange sesame tuile...yummilicious!

My friends had soups instead of salad...

Countryside Haricot Soup

Chilli Beef Soup

And some mains they had...

Red-hot Chicken Spaghetti

Pan-seared Chicken Breast with Shogayaki Sauce

And, as usual we ordered several appetizers for sharing..

Deluxe Snack Platter - Calamari, onion rings & cheesy sticks

Golden Idako with tangy dip

Mentaiko Shrimp Martini - our all time fave

Shrooms Bite

Other dessert orders...

Zestiny - Lime parfait with raspberries & lemon meringue sticks on top

TCC has been pretty consistent with their food quality and service standard...we enjoyed our dinner with good food and great service. One complain about this branch though...their juice blender is extremely loud. We wrote that down on their survey form and hope they will replace it soon.

Kuriya Penthouse Japanese Fine Dining

I chanced upon this Japanese Fine dining place while looking at restaurant menus owned by the RE&S restaurant group. Some of the well known eatery owned by them are Ichiban Boshi/Sushi, Kuishin Bo, Kuriya Dining and Green Pumpkin bakery etc. What really attracted me was the roof top garden setting and the full length glass windows that let in the sights of downtown Orchard road while diners have their meals.

Gloomy rainy day..

After doing some review reading, I decided to jio a few of my foodie friends who are keen to try this place out on a Sunday afternoon. We discovered that they do have affordable lunch sets on offer after checking their website menu and FB page. Their special lunch & dinner sets changes every month and according to Japan seasons. March is the Snow crab season and there were a few new set meals on offer, however we decided to stick to their popular 松花堂 lunch setsAs the ingredients are air flown directly from the Tsukiji market (Tokyo) every morning, diners were advised to make an advance order as all dishes are offered in a limited quantity daily.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by a series of awards that this eatery has garnered over the past 3 years since it opened in Dec 2009.

Saga-gyu Cert...佐賀牛 ranks among the best of over 200 beef brands in Japan

The decor is simple and cozy with enough space in between tables to ensure privacy of diners. There is a dedicated waiting staff to every table and they were very prompt to react to our needs. Every lady that enters the restaurant carrying a bag will be offered a dedicated stool for their bags right beside their seats...nice touch!

every lady gets one dedicated stool for her bag!

Simple flower center piece and folded napkin...

There is an outdoor dining (sheltered) area with a view of the city skyline for those who fancy the tropical garden setting...day beds are available for couples looking for a romantic night out in the evenings.

We had made a pre-order for the Shokado Bento sets (松花堂弁当セツト) via email a couple of days prior to our visit. So we were only presented the drinks menu upon arrival. I chose to have the Pineapple juice while some of my friends ordered from their list of Japanese plum wines.

pineapple juice $4.50

八岐の梅酒 / 青谷の梅酒 $8.00 each...check out the huge ball of ice..

For the main meal, I had the Kaede set (楓セツト) that consists of a starter,

Fried fish cubes in vinegar

3 kinds of sashimi,

bento box containing 3 appetizers, chicken karaage & almond prawn, grill fish & tamago and braised pork belly & daikon,

claypot rice & pickles,

chawanmushi & miso soup,

dessert of the day & coffee/tea.

Fruit jelly in custard cream

All of these for an affordable price of $37.80++, we were stuffed at the end of the lunch session!

Some other sets that my friends had were...Shokado Bento set (松花堂弁当セツト) $42++
starter

2 kinds of sashimi

grill salmon, duck meat, tamago

rice with mushroom & anchovies

potato salad & edamame

this set comes with pickles, chawanmushi, miso soup, dessert & coffee/tea

and the Tsubaki set (椿セツト) $42++

5 kinds of sushi

this set comes with starter, chawanmushi, miso soup, dessert & coffee/tea
